Not just another Christmas Carol, 3 ways to enjoy the IRT
Already a fan of the IRT? Check showtimes and get tickets here.
We’re knee-deep in holiday fanfare here at theCityMoms, but there is one Indy-local performance that we couldn’t let pass without a full break-down: A Christmas Carol at the Indiana Repertory Theatre (or IRT for those that know). It’s not just another night out, trust us.
Peek these 3 ways CityMoms enjoy A Christmas Carol with the IRT:
1. It’s a date!
If Scrooge could find time for love this holiday season, then you can too, and downtown Indianapolis is the perfect backdrop to your “Christmas Carol” date night. Grab dinner at one of the endless foodie spots, then take in the mesmerizing Circle of Lights as you make your way to the IRT, where you can enjoy dessert during intermission. (IRT has previously offered goodies from The Best Chocolate in Town or Taylor's Bakery!)
Date-night tip: Save time and preorder your beverages and treats for intermission with the bartender before you take your seats.
2. Did someone say mom’s-night-out?
When was the last time you and the girls got together to do something other than dinner and drinks? A performance at the IRT is the perfect way to mix up your MNO, and seeing A Christmas Carol means everyone can break out their fave festive wear too! Besides, we love our kiddos, but sometimes we need to sit in a cozy theatre and be unbothered for a few.
MNO pro-tip: Let your partner or caregiver know you’ll be in a performance with the phone on DND (unless it’s a real-real emergency, k?)
3. Create a tradition the family will never outgrow.
Moms with older kids know, sometimes they just aren’t into “Christmas stuff” anymore. That’s why we love the IRT for all ages and stages. Let your teens pick their seats and a special mid-show treat. Teach little ones about theatre etiquette, including the importance of a pre-show potty break. Your night out with a timeless classic like A Christmas Carol can grow as your family does, allowing you to build a tradition that even the next generation can enjoy!
Younger kiddo tip: Every seat at the IRT is a great seat, so grab ones closer to the exits in case a quick getaway is needed.
